> **Asset Management & Funds**

 • **The Players:** Tracking the latest corporate activity, significant launches and leadership moves for asset management firms with footholds in new global markets. It's a wide aperture.

• **Our Focus:** How investment houses are repositioning themselves in an environment of transformation is revealed in both opportunities and risks, by where – locationally and philosophically – and in whom they are placing today's bets. Further, we focus on trends at a product and solutions manufacturing level, with a nuanced look at how seemingly settled debates in the industry take a different form under a new markets lens.

**• Key Topics:**

> **New Strategies**

**• The Players:** We are here to track what's next and what's contested; for example three such strategy flavours are of special interest: **Emerging Markets, Natural Capital, and Multi-Asset.** While quite distinct each of these has a similarity, having taken a nonlinear, at times existential, even controversial, road to institutional relevance and they continue to posit fascinating questions in the context of our thesis and role of asset management today more broadly.

• **Our Focus:** Innovation, combined with demonstrated growth, is where we key in: what's changed for investors; why now and is it tactical, opportunistic, or sustainable? How to build it, how to sell it, and grow it. Testing assumptions as well as championing what's compelling and overlooked.

• **Key Topics:**

> **Alternatives & Private Markets**

**• The Big Questions:** As their growth continues in a global markets context (while still significantly trailing developed markets) we eye core alternatives both public – **hedge funds, funds of funds** – and private markets across **traditional buyouts, venture, and alternative credit**.

• **Our Focus:** Theta is also particularly interested in **asset-based finance** and its esoteric niches' fast-growing appeal for investors e.g. intellectual property, litigation finance, sports and aviation.

• **Key Topics:**

> **Allocators**

 • **The Big Questions:** New markets allocators quite simply are changing the game for global investment. With scale and unique priorities rivalling the world's largest institutional investors, they simply cannot be ignored as a driving force, and increasingly GP stakeholder, for investment managers. Theta looks to elucidate that power.

• **Our focus:** One half of our interest surrounds allocators themselves, their capacity building, evolving preferences, and tactics; the other half key into allocative decisioning and the wider ecosystem that serves it, including selectors and consultants, OCIOs, and other players.

**• Key Topics:**

> **Indices & Technology**

 • **The Big Questions:** What's underneath matters. New markets respond to – and depend upon – new tools, data, and credible benchmarks. There is little doubt, for example, of the impact reconstitution decisions, or even mere guidance, from today's index giants can have on entire economies. The same is true of information and infrastructure as the foundation for market access, scaling capital and managing risk. We track how these intersect, and debate the shape of their influence.

• **Our focus:** Naturally Theta focuses on these partners' enabling function, what genuine global leadership looks like, and how their stack fuses with investment products. A second coverage priority lies more subtly in their relationship to new markets and modalities, themselves, their incentives and directionality.

**• Key Topics:**

> **Macro**

 • **The Big Questions:** There may be no greater moment for global macro investing, trading, and research than today's. Yet the picture grows more complex, with a tangle of emerging risks that (perhaps ironically) mutes this particular strategy's uptake and muddles the message. Theta is here to make it clearer, and point up the analysis consistently getting it right.

• **Our focus:** The geoeconomics, political risk, and emerging (i.e. climate, cyber) fronts that now layer onto traditional macro measures, and their direct, often outsized effect on investor activities in new global markets. We look at this space especially holistically, from corporate teams to consultants, academics to liability-driven investors.
